Sydney man returns from shop to find swarm of bees have taken over his car

A man has returned from shopping in Sydney's south west to find a bizarre intruder in his car — a swarm of bees that had swiftly taken over.

Rizwan Khan was picking up groceries at Haldon Street in Lakemba, and when he returned 10 . minutes later he was surprised to see people crowding around his Jeep, holding their phones and taking videos of the inside.

When he got closer he saw the incredible sight that had captured their attention.

"Maybe they liked my Jeep, you know?" Mr Khan said.

"I returned to the car and I had people around the car with their cameras on and bees inside the car."

The swarm had settled itself on the doorframe immediately beside the driver's side seat, rendering it almost impossible to get in and drive away.

In a stroke of luck, a local beekeeper stumbled across the swarm and its spectators.

"This old man came up to me (and said) 'do you want to give it to me?'" Mr Khan said.

"And I said, of course, you can take them all."

The beekeeper used his bare hands to scoop the beesinto a box and help Mr Khan get back in the car.

"He was a lifesaver for me," Mr Khan said.

Mr Khan said he will be keeping the windows up on his Jeep from now on.
