New data from Domain shows that Sydney's median price for rental houses stayed at a record $750 in June 2024.
While renters are experiencing some relief with increases weakening around the country, this is still a 7.1 per cent jump on June 2023, and the highest median rent among the country's capitals.

Described as a "hidden gem" behind closed doors, the semi-detached property includes air-conditioning and built-in wardrobes.
The nearby bus-stop is a "short drive" to local amenities.
Melbourne - median rent $580/week
The median house rental rate in Melbourne is $580 a week, so this is an idea of what $750 gets you - three bedrooms and one bathroom in a "family-friendly" Hampton neighbourhood.
The "updated" kitchen included a "brand new cook top, plenty of storage space and dishwasher".
Images also showed an expanse of yard with lockable sheds.
Brisbane - median rent $630/week
This three-bedroom, two-bathroom Annerley townhouse is an example of what $750 a week can cover in Brisbane, where the median rental is $630.
As well as a downstairs bathroom and extra storage, the property boasts a large deck with views over the suburb.
Leasing agents dubbed a rear courtyard "perfect for barbecues".
