Sydney marathon runner ready to tackle Rio Olympics

She only competed in her first marathon last year – but 27-year-old Sydney woman Milly Clark is ready to represent Australia at the Rio Olympics.

In October last year, Clark finished third in her first competitive marathon event in Amsterdam, covering the 42km distance in two hours and 29 minutes.

Clark runs a total of 200km/week in her training.

She said her brother David is among her biggest fans.

“He thinks I might be from Kenyan descent,” she said.

The athlete, who weighs just 47kg, is now off to Arizona for high-altitude training.

She said she was ready to tackle Rio.

“I’m feeling happy, sad, excited, scared, nervous, just everything.”
