Sydney man guilty of bikie murder

A Sydney man who shot a Lone Wolf bikie in broad daylight more than two years ago has been found guilty of murder.

A NSW Supreme Court jury found Tarek Abdallah, 27, guilty of murdering Neal Todorovski in Sans Souci, in Sydney's south, in January 2012.

But Abdallah was found not guilty of shooting with intent to murder Mr Todorovski's associate John Leger.

Abdallah had pleaded not guilty to both offences on the basis he had acted in self defence.

In the opening day of his trial last month, his barrister David Dalton SC told the court Mr Todorovski and Mr Leger had come to Sans Souci with knuckle-dusters and a gun.

In "dire fear" for his life, Abdallah unleashed a "volley of shots", Mr Dalton told the court in February.

He said Abdallah knew Mr Todorovski, a Lone Wolf motorcycle gang member, had been out to get him after the 27-year-old's attempts to patch up a misunderstanding failed.

He'd only shot at a fleeing Mr Leger to scare him, Mr Dalton added.

But crown prosecutor Paul Leask argued Abdallah had retrieved a gun from the passenger side of his car and had fired directly at Mr Todorovski.

He said expert witnesses would explain Mr Todorovski was shot through the heart, suggesting that Abdallah had aimed to kill.

The court heard that seven bullet shells, projectile blood stains and torn clothing were found at the scene.

Monday's verdict comes more than two years after Abdallah was extradited from Perth in 2012 and charged over the daylight shooting.

Abdallah will return to court in May for sentencing.
