Sydney man allegedly run down and assaulted earlier this month dies in hospital

A man has died after he was allegedly hit by a car and assaulted in western Sydney earlier this month.

The 54-year-old man died in hospital yesterday, where he had been since the alleged assault happened at a Shalvey intersection on July 16.

Police said the father was hit by a blue Kia four-wheel drive and then beaten with a brick.

A 40-year-old man was charged and remains before the courts.
