M5 motorway brought to a crawl due to truck fire

Traffic on Sydney's M5 motorway has been brought to a crawl due to a truck fire near Moorebank Avenue.

Smoke was seen billowing out of a truck after it caught fire in a westbound lane near Liverpool.

Three of the four westbound lanes are closed.

All citybound lanes are open, but traffic is slowing as they pass.

It is believed the truck's trailer was full of fruit and vegetables.

Commuters have been advised to allow plenty of extra time to travel.

Emergency services and motorway crews are on the scene.
