How hard is it to knock?

Sydney mum Julie Salama was waiting at home for a parcel she was expecting from Australia Post.

Instead she received a note under her door reading: "We tried to deliver your package, but you weren't home".

Inside the whole time, Ms Salama checked her doorstep security camera footage to discover the deliveryman hadn't even checked.

The video shows the courier walk up to the door and slip the note underneath, before hurrying back to his van without knocking or ringing the doorbell.

"I was just so frustrated, he didn't even have a parcel under his arm," she told news.com.au.

"I don't even understand why he put it under the door if he was never going to deliver the parcel — the letterbox is closer."

The courier's lack of effort meant Ms Salama had to take her three young children with her to Merrylands post office, waiting 40 minutes to pick up her parcel.

"We apologise to our customer and we are extremely disappointed in the actions of this driver and will be following up with him directly," Australia Post said in a statement.

"As an organisation we take great pride in the safe and timely delivery of parcels. In this case the driver has not followed policy, which is to knock and call out to see if anyone is home before leaving a card."

While the parcel was sent through Australia Post, the actual delivery was outsourced to StarTrack, a courier company.
