M7 car fire: Vehicle explodes into flames, motorway lanes closed
Emergency crews have cleared the M7 after a car burst into flames on the motorway earlier this morning.
Both eastbound lanes of the motorway were closed just past Elizabeth Drive at Cecil Hills after the fire erupted about 7am.
Large flames were seen coming from the ute as fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze, sending a burst of smoke into the air.

The smouldering remains of the ute can be seen parked on the side of the road.
The motorway has since reopened, but the lane closure prompted traffic delays for motorists heading into the city.
