Sydney Airport is currently operating on a single runway due to strong wind gusts in the area.

Airservices Australia confirmed the airport is only operating one runway because of "gusty, westerly crosswinds".

"This decision is purely weather and safety-related to safeguard the travelling public," an Airservices Australian spokesperson confirmed.
