Suspicious device removed from West Ipswich shopping complex

The suspicious device that prompted the evacuation of an Ipswich shopping centre has been safely removed.

An emergency situation was in place for two hours after a cleaner called police about the device in the shopping centre car park, west of Brisbane.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the item, a small soft-drink sized can covered in tape, did not contain explosives but will be further examined.
