Melbourne mum found lying lifeless in the hallway by her son after he came home from work
A mother was killed inside her own home in Melbourne's north yesterday, with her son making the shocking discovery after returning from work.
One man was in custody and being questioned by police as detectives investigate the motive behind the deadly attack.
Emergency services were called to reports that a woman had been found unresponsive at a property on Gottloh Street in Epping about 5.50pm on Thursday.

"He just came home and found her with blood all over the place or something," a neighbour told 9News.
The son had just come home from work when he found his mother lying lifeless in the hallway upstairs.
The 44-year-old Epping woman, who appeared to have been seriously assaulted, died at the scene despite the work of paramedics.
A 50-year-old Rockbank man was arrested on Thursday night.
It's understood the man and woman are known to each other.

On Friday morning investigators swarmed a truck yard opposite the house, scouring the driveway for clues and downloading security camera footage of an unknown car.
Forensics officers spent much of the evening bagging evidence and seizing a Toyota Hilux.

It's understood the woman lived with her son, who homicide detectives spoke to on Friday, and her husband, who is currently overseas.
Police are asking anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
