Suspended Victorian police officer charged with rape

A Victorian police officer has been charged with rape following an alleged incident at a house on Australia Day.

Victoria Police told confirmed the incident, which involved an off-duty officer stationed in the western region, was being investigated by the Professional Standards Command.

The male leading senior constable is also facing two counts of recklessly causing injury.

The latest charges are alleged to have stemmed from another incident, which is alleged to have occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

He has been suspended without pay and is expected to face court of April 9.
