Suspended Logan mayor Luke Smith charged

Suspended Logan mayor Luke Smith has been charged after a disturbance at his father's home in Meadowbrook.

Smith was arrested at the home this morning after neighbours called police to report seeing a man smashing a car's windscreen.

He was taken to Logan police station and then to Beenleigh watch-house for questioning.

He has been charged with assault, wilful damage and obstruct police. He will face court on those charges later this month.

Smith was charged by the Crime and Corruption Commission on corruption and perjury allegations in May and has vowed to defend the charges.
