Two surfers catch monster wave together in bid to capture world's most dangerous surf image

A pair of Aussie surfers have risked their lives on a huge wave at Western Australia's infamous break The Right in a bid to push surf photography to its limits.

Mark Matthews and Taj Burrow both dropped into the wave at the same time last Friday, with Matthews clutching a camera.

The incredible video, shot for Red Bull and Stab Magazine, shows Taj getting barrelled before the huge wave closes out and consumes both of them.

In a post on its website, Red Bull called it "the most interesting -- and coincidentally, the most dangerous -- surf image ever taken".

The Right is reportedly the last wave in the world that hasn’t been paddled by a stand-up surfer.

Despite the danger, The Right's tendency to produce giant barrels means it's the perfect wave to accommodate two surfers at once.

The veteran surfers reportedly crashed out on a number amount of occasions before getting the perfect shot.

Matthews suffered a gash to his face and a ruptured eardrum in one of the wipe outs.
