Father and son's close encounter with giant sunfish
A father and son fisherman duo got the chance in a lifetime today after spotting a rare sunfish while out on the water.
Al and Cooper McGlashan were fishing off the coast of Sydney when they spotted a tell-tale splash.
"This is amazing," Al told 9News.

Sunfish are distinctive-looking creatures, with a pointed fin on the top and bottom of their bodies, but only a stub-like tail.

They can live as long as 10 years and grow to weigh more than a ton – dwarfing humans.
But they are harmless to people and only feed on small fish and jelly blubbers.

Once they reach adult size, sunfish are usually solitary creatures who love to sunbathe closer to the surface of the sea.
But to spot one as close as the McGlashans did is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
