Submarines deal not political: Pyne

Federal cabinet minister Christopher Pyne denies the government's submarines announcement is a political move to shore up seats in his home state of South Australia.

A recent opinion poll showed two coalition seats at risk in SA while Mr Pyne would be fighting for political survival over the issue.

"Issues come and go, but there's no doubt the fact the South Australian economy is in a serious transition is a big issue here," he told ABC radio.
