Two students hospitalised after lightning strike at school oval in Sydney's west

Two students have been taken to hospital after a lightning strike near a school oval in Sydney's west.

Emergency services were called to Clancy Catholic College on Carmichael Drive at West Hoxton shortly before 10am.

The two Year 7 students were taken to Fairfield Hospital with headaches and nausea.

More than 20 school girls were also treated by paramedics for shock.

"It looks like no one was directly hit," a police spokeswoman said.

Four ambulances were called to the school.
