Student in a serious condition after alleged stabbing at Wollongong high school

A 16-year-old student has suffered serious injuries after he was allegedly stabbed at a high school in north Wollongong this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Keira High School on Lysaght Street around 1.40pm following reports that a male student had been stabbed.

The teenager was treated by paramedics for a stab wound to his stomach.

He was taken by helicopter to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A 14-year old boy reported to Wollongong police station at 4pm in relation to the alleged stabbing and is assisting police with inquires.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
