Stuck kitten rescued from Melbourne dumpster pipe

A stray kitten stuck in the pipe of a Melbourne dumpster has been rescued by firefighters, with the help of a little olive oil.

The Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) were called to help the RSPCA at the rubbish tip in Keilor Park about 11am today.

The kitten was sedated and covered in olive oil before firefighters were able to pull it from the pipe at the bottom of the bin.

The MFB said the animal had been nick-named  “Brian”, after the “firie who kept it calm”.

It has since been taken to the local vet for a check-up.
