Victoria bracing for three days of storms and rain

Thunderstorms are expected to batter Victoria as fires continue to rage in rural areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology expects rain today and during the weekend, easing bushfires conditions in some parts of the state.

Bushfires in rural areas are no longer threatening communities, but Emergency Management Commissioner Craig Lapsley said downpours on burnt land would make them tougher to work on.

"Rain in these areas will actually make firefighting efforts more difficult and complex," he said yesterday.
