Stevens 'rock star' of bankers:Morrison

Treasurer Scott Morrison has given Reserve Bank governor Glenn Stevens a huge rap, saying he stands above the pack of central bankers around the world.

"I really do have to single out Glenn Stevens being the rock star of reserve bankers, if you can actually put those two terms together," he told the Bloomberg Summit in Sydney on Wednesday.

Mr Stevens' term as governor ends in September next year, but Mr Morrison declined to speculate whether his replacement would be drawn from inside the RBA that has been the recent tradition or if he would look elsewhere.
