Today's Google Doodle honours the memory of 'Croc Hunter' Steve Irwin on his birthday
Google Doodle is honouring Steve Irwin’s birthday today with six colourful illustrations depicting his passion for wildlife and love for his family.
The Australian legend died 13 years ago after being stung by a stingray, leaving behind his daughter Bindi Irwin, son Robert Irwin and wife, Terri Irwin all of whom feature in the artworks.
“Today’s Google Doodle acknowledges the life and achievements of my husband Steve Irwin, whose efforts to protect wildlife and wild places have been recognised as the most extensive of any conservationist,” wrote Terri in a blog post.

The first image depicts Steve holding a crocodile – the beast Steve Irwin was always particularly passionate about, earning him the title of ‘Crocodile hunter’.
The second shows him out on the water exploring with his beloved dog, Sui, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier who died two years before his owner.

The third depicts his fearless approach to animals as he feeds a crocodile in front of a crowd of spectators.
The fourth pays tribute to his infamous use of Australian slang with the word ‘crikey’ splashed across the illustration.

The final images feature Steve’s family who are now continuing his legacy through their work with the Australia Zoo which is home to more than 1,200 animals over nearly 1000 acres of land.
Steve Irwin's family expressed their excitement and gratitude for the image series today in an interview on the Today Show.

"They really capture our lives together as a family," said Bindi.
Today marks what would have been Steve’s 57th birthday.
