Star undergoes emergency brain surgery after going to hospital with ‘migraine’

Actor and singer Johnny Ruffo has shown off a dramatic post-surgery scar across his head as he revealed he had undergone emergency surgery to remove a brain tumour.

The 29-year-old shared two photos post-op on his Instagram page, asking fans to keep him in their thoughts.

“Some things in life really put things into persepective (sic), hoping for a positive result, keep me in your thoughts x,” he captioned the post.

One photo shows him with a lengthy scar across the side of his head and forehead and another of him appearing in good spirits giving thumbs up in his hospital bed.

In a statement, the former Home and Away actor and X Factor star said he went into hospital with a migraine.

“I had to have a brain tumour removed. I am on the mend and feeling positive. Keep me in your thoughts.”

His Home and Away co-star Lynne McGranger told The Daily Telegraph the cast was “shocked” to hear of his sudden diagnosis.

“All of us in the Bay are shocked to hear of Johnny’s sudden illness,” she said.

“It goes without saying that he is so loved and we wish him a speedy and complete recovery and can’t wait to see him tearing up the stage again soon.

Ruffo appeared on The X Factor in 2011 and later signed a recording contract with Sony Music Australia.

He went on to star as Chris Harrington on Home and Away from 2013 to 2016.
