Staffer dodges bullet during foiled armed robbery

A service station worker has been filmed narrowly avoiding being shot during an attempted armed robbery in Sydney’s west last night.

CCTV obtained by 9NEWS shows a hooded man walking through the doors of the Boundary Road outlet in Chester Hill about 6.30pm.

Armed with a gun, the offender demands cash from the staff member behind the counter.

After refusing to hand over money, the thug fires a bullet, missing the victim by just centimetres and hitting the cigarette cabinet.

The robber then fled the scene empty handed, and remains on the run.

He is described as being of Pacific Island/Maori appearance with a large build.

Police have said it’s “incredible” no-one was injured in the incident.

Investigations are ongoing.
