Construction worker rescued with crane after fall

A construction worker who was injured after falling from a ladder in Sydney's north was lifted to safety in a dramatic rescue today.

Five NSW Ambulance units, including a special operations paramedics team, were sent to the construction site in St Ives just before 9.30am. 

The man, believed to be in his 40s, fell from the ladder into a concrete pit, injuring his head and chest.

It is understood the man was working in a team on the site to construct a basement when he fell into the pit.

Paramedics struggled to gain access to the injured man because he was several metres below ground level.

A crane’s workbox was then used to lower emergency services into the pit to treat him before he was pulled to safety.

He was transported while conscious and breathing to the Royal North Shore Hospital where he was reported to be in a stable condition.
