Teen handed a caution after alleged post triggered Melbourne school lockdown

A teenage boy who allegedly posted a "threatening social media post" leading to the lockdown of a Melbourne schoolockdown of a Melbourne schoo has received a caution.

Victoria Police said the Hampton boy was arrested over the post yesterday, which "allegedly made possible threats towards a teacher from a Bayside school".

St Bede's, a Catholic all-boys secondary school at Mentone, was forced into lockdown at 8.25am, and was lifted an hour later.

Principal Deb Frizza told 9News that "all students and staff were safe" and said they followed advice from Victoria Police.

The 17-year-old boy was released from custody and given a caution following the alleged post.

"The threats were non-specific and not targeted at an individual school or person," police said.
