Spear gun hold up at Melb service station

A man armed with a spear gun has held up a Melbourne service station and fled with cash.

Police say the man entered the Lygon Street, East Brunswick service station at about 2.35am on Wednesday and demanded cash.

The staff member handed over an amount of cash and cigarettes.

The man then fled the service station on foot.

He is described as being Caucasian and aged between 20 and 30 years.

The man was wearing a hooded jumper and dark-coloured shorts.

A spear gun was used in an armed robbery on a Bayswater North supermarket last week, but police say the robberies are not linked.
