SA greyhound industry threatened with shutdown after live baiting, abuse inquiry
South Australia's greyhound racing industry is being warned to make changes within two years or risk being shut down.
It comes as an independent inquiry into the sector, which was prompted by acts of live baiting and animal abuse, made 86 recommendations for change when it handed down its findings.
The inquiry uncovered suffering being endured by racing dogs and by dogs waiting for adoption.

Greyhound Racing SA agreed in principle to improve the industry. Nine
"This government wants to see the industry survive in SA but only if it cleans up its act," Premier Peter Malinauskas said.
"Change must happen, it can happen, and if it does the industry will get to continue."
Greyhound Racing SA said it recognised the task ahead and agreed in principle with the recommendations to improve the industry.
