Son arrested over mother's disappearance

The son of a missing Gold Coast woman has been arrested today in a major police breakthrough, six years after she disappeared.

Linda Sidon's 28-year-old son was arrested this afternoon and is expected to be charged with her murder.

Ms Lindon was 46 when she was last seen at a medical appointment in June 2009.

However, she was not reported as missing until 12 months later by a relative in New Zealand, the Courier Mail reports.

The police investigation has ramped up this year with a five day search for evidence at Numinbah Valley last month and forensic examinations of the Ashmore home Ms Sidon lived in.

Ms Sidon's body has not been found.
