Snake rescued from burning home

Fire crews have salvaged a large pet snake from a home south of Adelaide.

Ten fire fighters were called to the blaze at the Balhannah property about 7pm yesterday.

After controlling the flames and smoke, the slithering reptile was located safe and well at the front of the Onkaparinga Valley Road home.

9NEWS captured the snake and its owner re-uniting following the fire.
