Skull fractured in Hobart assault

A woman has suffered a fractured skull after striking her head on the ground during an assault in Hobart.
Police say the woman fell to the ground, striking her head on the road, after being slapped or hit by a man in Despard Street, central Hobart at about 2.20am (AEDT) on Thursday.
She was taken to Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment and found to have a fractured skull.

Police have obtained CCTV footage of the incident.
The woman is expected to make a full recovery.
Police are asking people who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
