Ski lift nightmare: Skiers cling to shaking chairlift during Storm Eleanor

Powered by

Two skiers have been forced to cling to a wildly rocking chairlift due to strong winds from Storm Eleanor.

Video shows the lift shaking at Austria's Silvretta Montafon ski resort, with two pairs of skis dangling below the chair.

A crowd of skiers can be seen looking on, as staff climb a nearby lift pole.

No one was injured in the incident, Voralberg ORF radio reports.

The manufacturer of the six-seater lift has since told the station the danger was low.

Chairlifts are among the safest type of transport in the world, a Doppelmayr spokesman said.

Multiple deaths have been reported during Storm Eleanor, which has affected northern Europe.
