A world renowned Swedish skier has taken his penchant for extreme adventure to a new level, employing the use of a chainsaw to skate across a frozen lake.

Erik Sunnerheim, who finished eighth overall in his first year competing in the prized Freeride World Tour, usually divides his time skiing and working on oil rigs in the North Sea.

But with conditions on his local slopes not up to standard recently, Sunnerheim decided to get inventive on a frozen lake in an attempt to replicate the thrills he's used to on snow.

Sunnerheim filmed himself biting into the ice with a chainsaw to drag himself around on skates, performing turns and high-speed passes for the camera that certainly made the adventure look enjoyable.

It certainly would have been a different story if he'd fallen forward.

Needless to say, don't try this at home.
