Six men are expected to plead guilty over their roles in a Melbourne brawl between rival soccer fans where wooden missiles were allegedly thrown.

More than 100 people clashed in central Melbourne before the A-League match between the Melbourne Victory and Western Sydney Wanderers on December 28.

Eight men, aged between 19 and 44, appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday over the affray at the Royal Melbourne Hotel.

Four were charged with throwing a steel-framed wooden bench, endangering others.

Leading Senior Constable Jacqueline Steiger told the court the cases had been resolved in relation to six of the men.

Their cases were adjourned until August 22 for a plea of guilty.

The other two men will also return to court that day for a contest mention.

A further two men, who are Sydney supporters, will appear at the same court for mention hearings on July 3 over their roles in the incident.
