Shopkeeper robbed, bashed and stranded on remote road

A shop owner is nursing cuts and bruises after a frightening robbery at gunpoint, then an abduction that left him stranded on an isolated south coast road.

Police fear the bandits, who they say are armed and dangerous, will strike again.

Father-of-three Les Corish was raided for cash by two pistol-wielding bandits at his Sanctuary Point IGA.

He was forced to drive his own car to his second store at St Georges Basin, and hand over more money.

A woman employee was also assaulted there.

Next, he was made to drive 10 minutes to Tomerong where he was abandoned on a secluded road, brutally beaten, his hands bound. 

With his mobile he managed to raise the alarm, but police are still looking for his blue Commodore station wagon, the rego BPM-07G.

The bandits had spray painted Mr Corish's security cameras and stole his hard drive. 

The 49-year-old who's long pushed for better security and more police around his stores is recovering at home. 

Friends say he'll bounce back and the community will rally behind him. 

Police are seeking information about the robbery and attack, but have urged members of the public not to approach the bandits.
