Three shooting organisations donated more than $150,000 to political parties for the 2016 federal election campaign.

The single-largest donation was $75,000 from the Queensland Sporting Shooters to Katter's Australian Party, while the Victorian branch of the same organisation gave $15,800 to the Liberal Democrats in NSW headed by gun reform advocate, Senator David Leyonhjelm.

The Liberal, National and Shooters parties all benefited from donations from the Shooting Industry Foundation of Australia, the Australian Electoral Commission revealed on Wednesday.
