CCTV has emerged of a mentally disabled Melbourne man allegedly being set upon by a group of offenders.

The video shows four masked men pacing outside Adam’s Collingwood unit before storming their way in on Saturday morning.

Undeterred by multiple security cameras, the gang is shown using a plank of wood to repeatedly hit the alleged victim on the head.

Moments later, Adam – who preferred not to give his surname - appears to be hurled across the room by one of the alleged intruders.

“I’m traumatised it. It was just horrific. I still shudder when I think of it,” he told 9NEWS today.

“I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy.”

Adam was left bleeding from his head and ribs, while the alleged offenders ransacked his home and stole his iPad mini.

Despite the ordeal, he said the footage was important step in showing people how horrifying an alleged home invasion can be.

Two men, including an 18-year-old, have since been arrested over the incident.

The teenager, who has ties to the Apex gang, faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this afternoon, charged with a string of offences including aggravated burglary.

He applied for bail, which was refused by the magistrate on the basis of the teen posing an “unacceptable risk to society”.

The accused will spend the night in custody before fronting court again tomorrow.
