A Queensland couple had a near miss when a bronze whaler shark charged their jet ski, narrowly missing the woman's leg.

The Hervey Bay couple were exploring a popular tourist spot off the western side of Fraser Island off the Queensland coast on Sunday morning when they saw the shark in the water, the Daily Mail reports.

The shark took interest in their jet ski as it slowly circled the vehicle before launching out of the water at the it.

Throughout most of the video there was silence as the couple filmed the shark on a GoPro, after the attack the man let out a nervous laugh as they sped away from the shark.

The woman upload the video to Facebook and wrote: "So this just happened. I literally had to move my leg so it didn't get mauled".
