Warning for flash flooding in south-west Western Australia as wild weather continues

A severe weather warning for heavy rainfall is in place for parts of south-western Western Australia, after thunderstorms overnight were less severe than expected.

The Bureau of Meteorology has this morning issued the warning for people in parts of the state bounded by Windy Harbour, Busselton, Mandurah, Lake Grace, Hopetoun and back along the coast.

This includes residents near or between the towns of Bunbury, Bridgetown, Katanning and Albany.

The Bureau has warned the unseasonal rain is expected to continue through the morning and afternoon before easing this evening, with the potential to cause flash flooding in some areas.

Flood watch warnings have been issued for the South West, Great Southern and South Coastal District.
