Severe storm warning issued as line of storms moves across southeast Queensland

A severe thunderstorm warning for southeast Queensland has been updated, after a line of storms developed from the Sunshine Coast to the NSW border.
The latest Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) warning identified four severe storms in the region, with large hailstones and damaging winds likely to affect the Logan, Ipswich, Gympie, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay areas.
The storms are moving east to northeast and are forecast to affect Jimboomba by 3.55pm AEST and Logan Village from 4.25pm AEST, BoM advised.
A further warning is due to be issued by 4.25pm AEST.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
- Move your car under cover or away from trees.
- Secure loose outdoor items.
- Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
- Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
- Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
- For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
