Queensland health authorities have warned more cases of measles are likely after a seventh person contracted the highly-contagious disease in an outbreak at a Brisbane university.

The University of Queensland student was a passenger on Singapore Airlines flight SQ235, which arrived in Brisbane at 7am on August 15.

Metro North Public Health Unit physician Dr James Smith said more cases were expected given symptoms could occur up to 18 days after contact with an infectious person.

Students who are unwell have been urged to avoid the St Lucia university campus, part-time work and social events.
