Security guards in question stood down pending investigations into shopping centre security camera scandal

The Westfield shopping centre security guards accused of secretly filming female shoppers have been stood down pending investigations, it has been revealed.

A Westfield spokesman confirmed the guards in question had been identified and removed from all shopping centres until their fate is decided by internal investigators, A Current Affair reports.

The retail giant revealed it has contacted the office of the Privacy Commissioner and will cooperate in any further review of practice.

A senior lawyer has also been appointed to assist in proceedings.

The developments come just days after A Current Affair exposed a handful of security guards at Westfield in Sydney's CBD who had been spying on female shoppers using surveillance cameras.

There is also understood to be about 1000 photos taken from security vision of female shoppers, which have been saved to a file and categorised based on race, body type and clothing.

SecureCorp, which employs the security guards, released a statement following the report saying any employees found to breach policies and procedures will be dealt with accordingly.
