Queensland security guard in critical condition after assault at shopping centre

A man has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after an assault in a Queensland shopping centre.

The man, who works as a security guard, is fighting for life after being bashed by an unknown man at the Caboolture Shopping Centre on King Street.

9News understands he was hit over the head with a chair.

Paramedics said the incident happened about 1.40pm and a man his 30s had been taken to hospital with critical head injuries.

Police are gathering CCTV footage and a manhunt is underway for the offender.
