A second person has been charged with murder after a man was allegedly stabbed to death at a home in Townsville in North Queensland last week.

Police say a man and a woman allegedly entered a property on Eleventh Avenue in Railway Estate just after 4.30am last Wednesday, where they are accused of "seriously assaulting" a man before leaving the home.

When emergency crews arrived, they found the man, 39, clinging to life and suffering stab wounds to the chest.
