Second man charged after man allegedly shot, woman hit with bat during home invasion

A second man has been charged over his role in an alleged home invasion in Sydney's west last year.

Five men allegedly forced their way into a home on Esme Avenue in Chester Hill on September 28, 2023, before shooting a man and threatening people inside the home with several weapons, including a bat.

A 49-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, while a 46-year-old woman was allegedly hit with the bat.

A number of children were also home at the time of the alleged home invasion and were unharmed.

The man and woman were treated by paramedics at the time and did not need further treatment.

Investigators arrested a 22-year-old man at Parramatta Police Station on Sunday.

He was charged with aggravated entering a home, intimidating someone causing fear or physical harm, assault and choking a person without consent.

He was refused bail and appeared in Parramatta Local Court on the same day, where he was then granted conditional bail.

He will reappear in Bankstown Local Court on November 12.

Police previously charged a 23-year-old man over the alleged break-in, and he remains before the courts.

Investigations are ongoing.
