Second boy killed in classroom crash farewelled

The second boy killed in a tragic classroom crash in Sydney's southwest has been laid to rest at Rookwood cemetery.

Nine-year-old Andrew Encinas was killed along with classmate Jihad Darwiche when a 4WD smashed through the wall of their classroom at Banksia Road Public School in Greenacre last Tuesday.

The family's eulogy remembered Andrew as a "bright, energetic little boy who lived life to the fullest".

"He loved being active and was kicking a football from the day he could walk," the eulogy read.

The family said they thought Andrew and Jihad would be "playing soccer up there".

The father of Jihad was among the congregation.

A large crowd gathered to farewell Andrew at Rookwood, with mourners weeping as his light-blue coffin was driven up in a white hearse.

Mourners wore soccer jerseys in black and green with "Andrew" lettered across the back.

Jihad's funeral was held last Thursday at Lakemba mosque.

The woman behind the wheel of the car, Maha Al-Shennag, was charged with a series of offences including causing death by dangerous driving.

She reported to police for the first time last week as part of her bail conditions.

Last week, Jihad's father spoke out in an extraordinary video wherein he offered forgiveness to Ms Al-Shennag and invited her to eat with the family to discuss the tragedy.

Ms Al-Shennag's lawyer said she was grateful for the sentiments.

She will appear before Bankstown Local Court on November 29.

Three other children were injured in the crash and taken to hospital.
