Mr Vanharen last phoned his family on April 29 and police have an unconfirmed sighting of him on the 30th.

Weipa Police Senior Constable Joe Moran said officers have ruled out foul play, and Mr Vanharen's disappearance is out of character.

"He maintained contact with family members all the time and the family members have not heard from the missing person. It appears that foul play is unlikely," Const. Moran said.

The search resumed Monday morning. Nine

Mr Vanharen is described as Caucasian, about 180 centimetres tall with a thin to proportionate build and shoulder length brown hair.
