District Court judge narrowly avoids being hit after car rolls on Adelaide street

A District Court judge narrowly avoided being hit when an out-of-control car flipped on a street in Adelaide this morning.

Judge Julie McIntyre was walking her dog on Trevelyan Street in Wayville just before 7am when a silver Subaru station wagon rolled onto its roof and slid onto the footpath.

Judge McIntyre suffered shock and some minor injuries, and was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital for observation. 

The driver and sole occupant of the car allegedly fled the scene, sparking a major manhunt. 

Late this afternoon, an 18-year-old Highgate man handed himself in to police in the company of a lawyer. 

He has been reported over a raft of offences, including failing to stop and assist after a crash.

Judge McIntyre's husband Jim Telfer said she did not remember much of what happened.

"This guy came flying around the corner and that's about the last thing she remembers," Mr Telfer said. 

A Courts Authority spokesperson said Judge McIntyre is recovering from her ordeal and plans to be back at work on Monday.
