Search continues for bushwalker missing south of Sydney

A multi-agency search for a missing bushwalker in Sydney’s Royal National Park will enter its fourth day as concerns grow for his welfare.

NSW Police confirmed to 9News.com.au this morning that the search for 32-year-old Aaron Payne would recommence today, more than 48 hours after he was first reported missing.

Crews from the Rural Fire Service will also be present, assisting the investigation into Payne’s whereabouts.

Mr Payne’s vehicle was left parked on Beachcomber Avenue, Bundeena on Saturday October 20, where it is believed he walked into bushland at the start of the Coast Track.

That afternoon a full-scale search operation was launched involving Sutherland Shire police, the Rural Fire Service, SES, and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

The search continued through Sunday and Monday, with nothing significant recovered.

NSW Police say they hold serious concerns for Payne’s welfare.

Payne is described as having a Caucasian appearance with a fair complexion, about 170cm tall, of slim build and with short brown hair.

Before he was reported missing he was last seen wearing a navy-blue shirt, dark hiking books, a backpack and a headtorch.
