Irish Commonwealth Games boxer gets in fight with bar bouncer - and loses

An Irish boxer has been banned from the Commonwealth Games after losing a brawl with a nightclub bouncer on the Gold Coast. 

Authorities were called to the Sin City Nightclub in Surfers Paradise just before 3am where they found light-welterweight fighter Sean McComb pinned to the ground.

The 25-year-old was detained by the bouncers after he allegedly threw punches following an altercation. 

No one was injured in the brawl. 

He was slapped with a $756 fine for public nuisance and was banned from the Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach Safe Night Precincts for 10 days.

The fight occurred just days after McComb was defeated by Engligh fighter Luke McCormack 4-1 in a quarterfinal match.

"Cheers for all the messages everyone," he wrote on Twitter.

"Not the first time I’ve been beat and won’t be the last!"

"But all the support keeps me going, thanks again."
